Put the DVD drive back into position in the Xbox 360. Reattach the two cable to the back of the DVD drive. Put the DVD drive case back onto the DVD drive. Push the disc tray back into the DVD drive.
Rotate the black disc spindle hub a full turn clockwise. Grasp the black disc spindle hub between the forefinger and thumb of your right hand. Moisten another cotton swab in distilled alcohol and wipe around the black disc spindle hub again.īlow off the black disc spindle hub with compressed air. Wipe the moistened end of the cotton swab around the black disc spindle hub at the center of the disc spindle. Moisten a cotton swab in distilled alcohol. Blow off the exposed DVD drive mechanism with compressed air. Pull the disc tray out to its fully extended position. Pull the DVD drive's case off with your hands. Remove the screws from the left and right sides of the DVD drive's case. Put the DVD drive face down on the bath towel. Pull the two cables out of the back of the DVD drive with your right hand. Pull the DVD drive out of the Xbox 360 with your left hand. Remove the screws from the left and right sides of the DVD drive with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Pull the back plate off the Xbox 360 with your hands. Pull the two plastic inserts out of the Xbox 360 with your hands. Remove the screws from the back plate with the Torx screwdriver. Pull the outer case off of the Xbox 360 with your hands. Turn the Xbox 360 back face up on the bath towel. Remove the 14 screws now revealed using the Torx screwdriver.
Remove the four plastic latches inside of the left side of the Xbox 360 in the same manner as was done on the right side. Insert the flat-edged screwdriver into the holes of the ventilation grill to release the three additional plastic latches. Move the flat-edged screwdriver across the top holes of the ventilation grill. Insert the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver into the upper left hole in the ventilation grill on the Xbox 360's right side. Wiggle the faceplate free of the Xbox 360. Pull up on the USB door at the lower right corner of the faceplate with your right hand. Squeeze the upper left corner of the faceplate with your left hand. Put the Xbox 360 down horizontally on the bath towel with the power button facing you.
